We had an old, ugly coffee table. We got it from my brother in law when our oldest was only about 5 months old. When it was being moved, the mirrored glass on top fell out. So we were left with this ugly top that said "Made In Mexico" and had a bunch of numbers, not to mention the discoloration from the 25 year old glue! This thing is so heavy duty that I didn't want to just toss it (literally, we'd have 3 kids on top of it JUMPING!). It was only ugly on the top, not broken. In fact, it was our craft table for a long time. I had to scrape off the remnants of play-doh before actually fixing it up today.
Here's before....WAY before (this was about a year and a half ago).
I took some acrylic paint I had laying around from 6-7 years ago and make a pond, river, wildflowers (the yellow), and trees. Yeah, I am the worst at drawing stick figures, much less an aerial view of a countryside!
I saved the table from collecting dust in our storage room, and now the kids get to use their table for their farm set ups, their cars and trucks, and their trains that Santa is bringing for Christmas! YAY! I can't wait for morning, to hear all about their awesome table. It can be so simple to take something that most people would say "toss", and find another use for it. One man's (well, woman's) trash, is another man's (well, the same woman's) treasure!
So, the following morning: the farm stuff came out. This is just a nice landscape for so many things!
