Frozen Summer Refreshers

So we just bought 6 personal size watermelons for $.50 each about a week ago. I wasn't quite sure how to use them before they went bad. Here is what I finally did. I decided to slice them into various chunk sizes, put them in the FoodSaver bags, then toss them in the freezer for summer outings. We will be putting these into our cooler on long bike rides during the blistering Phoenix summer, for 4th of July festivities away from home, and any other time we can use a refreshing treat. Our younger daughter can't touch watermelon, so we did the same with fresh pineapple as well. Grapes are another frozen treat we love. Here are a couple of pictures of my watermelon process.

I also needed to use up a very ripe honeydew melon. So I just made 3 packs to freeze. It's so simple, yet not something you'd think of right away. But it thaws like an ice pack would, keeps the food cold like an ice pack, the only difference is that you can EAT it! Yummy! It's like a smoothie, with no additives. :) Enjoy!
