How To Find Cheap or Free Books

We love our library! When we go in, there are a few book cases that have books and magazines for sale. We always go through them just in case we find something interesting. I suppose yesterday was a GREAT find!

We managed to get 3 baseball books: How Baseball Works, Everything Kids Baseball Book, and the Eyewitness Book: World Series. If you didn't notice, we are a baseball family :)
There were other sports books as well: Soccer, Football, Karate, and Hockey.
String Games was one I thought would be great, especially since I've always wanted to learn how to do those!
Violins. Anything music-related, we tend to get. I was very musical growing up, so it's a huge part of me. I hope to pass that on to my children.
Why Do You Always Have to Keep Saying Please? It's a manners book, why would I pass up on that offer? :)
The Magic School Bus: Science Exploration. You can never go wrong with MSB!
Kids Around the World Cook! If you haven't noticed, I big on recipes and cooking, my kids love to help, so why not let them have another kids cookbook?!
Can You See What I See? Seymour Makes New Friends. We all love the hidden objects books.
A Kids Book of First Aid, What Am I Made Of?, and Human Body. I loved studying about our bodies growing up. I wanted to be a trauma nurse. It's nice when the parent is interested in the books while reading them to the children.
Berentain Bears: Drug Free Zone. Berenstain Bears, I think we need them all :)
I Can Count to 100, Can You? My 4 year old loves counting, so this was a fun one.
Amazon Fever. Just looked like a fun young novel.

The retail price of the cheapest book: $3.50. The most expensive: $22.50. Average price of $9.95 for rest of them. I paid only $.10 EACH! So 21 books was only $2.10! Not a bad deal.

Education doesn't have to be expensive. There are resources out there to help you get what you need for your children. This is one example. We have 4 7' bookshelves CRAMMED with books, and we have only paid maybe $50 for most of them total. Minus my Harry Potter books I paid full price for when pre-ordering them, and a few National Geographic books, which I don't care to reveal the price of!

Craigslist is another example of freebies. I have over 300 National Geographic Magazines for FREE from 2 different people on CL. Those are great for history, science, political, geography, etc. Why not pick a topic and have your teen write an essay, your middle-schooler to read their favorite articles on the subject, or read a story to your young one and have them sum it up for you afterwards? It's easy things that can make a huge differece.
