How To Buy Chicken in Bulk
So I stock up on boneless skinless chicken breasts when they go on sale for $1.67/lb or lower. I make sure I buy enough to last for 3-4 months or so. This also includes other meats we have stocked up AND non-meat nights. In order to make the chicken last longer, I use my FoodSaver, plastic wrap, or raw pack canning. I bought about 20 pounds of chicken breasts, butterfly cut them, separated them into servings, and put 3-4 servings in each pile. Then I just wrap the cling wrap before placing in the freezer. Simple! It defrosts in only a minute or two, it's just the right amount for a dinner, and I don't worry about freezer burn.
